Area Flooding Concerns

Posted: Updated:

The town of Morrison, Illinois spent much of today preparing for possible flooding on nearby Rock Creek.

Earlier today, water levels were three to four feet from coming out of the banks. Community members helped with sandbagging efforts.

The owner of a local car dealership says his business has been flooded twice before.

"We're kind of hoping it keeps slowly melting off and that it continues to flow pretty fast down to where it won't affect us," Mark Schuler of Schuler Motors said.

Another trouble spot: along the Wapsipinicon River in rural Scott County.

There's recently been an ice jam by old Highway 61 in Long Grove. Eventually some broke free and the level dropped.
