Bix 7 Looks To Attract More Runners

Posted: Updated:

It's months before we see thousands of runners hit the streets in Davenport for the Bix 7 road race but organizers held a kick off event for the QC tradition.
The goal for the 40th anniversary year is to get 20,000 people involved. Organizers say one way they hope to attract runners is giving active duty US military members free registration.
A couple thousand soldiers are expected to take advantage.

"We've had over twenty thousand people in the race before but it's hard to sustain that number and why we need to do few new things to bring more people in," Bix 7 race director Ed Froehlich said. "We just don't have a large enough population base to sustain year after year."

Of course the plan is to keep all the tradition alive that comes with the race. Runners will tackle the course on July 26th.
