A landmark building in the QCA will be getting a complete makeover.
The Lodge Hotel in Bettendorf is converting into a DoubleTree by Hilton.
They'll be spending over $17-million getting rid of the Bavarian or "castle-style" theme of the hotel and turning it into a contemporary design. The hotel's general manager has been working there for 12 years now and he says it's been a long, difficult journey getting to this point.
"We've been talking about different things to do with the property for a number of years," Lodge GM Ray Stoddard said. "Business at the hotel has been declining. The property does need renovation and we looked at a number of different options and the best option that we found was to go high, go big."
The hotel will remain open during most of the renovations which begin end of the summer. The goal is to have everything finished by the start of 2015.
