The Quad Cities may get the opportunity to be a part of an effort to increase manufacturing in Illinois.
President Obama is expected to announce millions of dollars in government and private investment into digital and advanced manufacturing research.
Part of the funding would go to a Chicago based lab but there may be some trickle down effect for its regional partners in our area, including the Quad City Manufacturing Lab. It's an organization based on the Rock Island Arsenal that's paving the way for the future of manufacturing.
"In terms of the breath of technology we have at our disposal, this is a pretty unique laboratory," Dr. Eric Faierson said.
The Quad City lab prides itself on being able to manufacture items efficiently using 3D metal printing by doing projects that would take weeks in just hours and with time, this type of research could mean high paying jobs available at lots of manufacturing companies.
