Melting Snow Could Mean Flooding

With all the melting snow and more rain on the way some people are concerned about potential flooding in their homes.   

There are some ways to prevent that from happening. You can test out your sump pump by actually dumping water into it to see if it works.
     
It's also a good idea to watch for any excess snow near your home's foundation.

"If you have any large piles of snow along your foundation, just as this is happening just try to move those off the foundation so that the snow is going to go somewhere besides inside the basement," K&K True Value Hardware's Casey Keller said.

Experts also suggest making sure gutters and down spouts aren't blocked by ice or snow.
      
Rock salt can be used in the gutter to help melt the ice.
