Pot holes along major roadways in the QCA have been causing trouble for some drivers.
One on Brady Street caused several tires to blow out over the weekend. So, when that happens, who's liable? Some city officials say a bad road complaint like that usually doesn't come back in favor of the driver.
"Generally the city isn't liable for something like that," said Randy Tweet, Rock Island Public Works Director. "Unless the city has been made aware of it and hasn't done anything about it but generally we're not liable for things like that."
In order for the city to cover damage to a car, there must be proof the city was negligent. In Rock Island, officials say they try to get public works crews out to fill pot holes as soon as possible but officials can only begin to do that under the right weather conditions.
