Even with relief efforts now just beginning in the Philippines, it's clear: Relief organizations face a massive challenge in getting that country on the road to recovery.
Now, the Quad Cities chapter of the American Red Cross is making it a little easier for you to help.
This Friday, November 15, 2013, there will be a drive up/drop off event in Davenport for you to make a donation to the Red Cross.
Local red cross officials tell us that QCA residents have always been very generous at donation drives like this in the past.
The Red Cross usually raises between 50 and 80 thousand dollars at each one.
"It used to surprise me, but then I just know the QC community, when we talk to them about the need and what their dollars will do, that people step forward and say I want to do this," said Betsy Pratt, Regional Chapter Executive for the American Red Cross in the Quad Cities.
We will be collecting monetary donations for the Red Cross' international disaster relief efforts outside the KWQC Broadcast Center at 805 Brady Street in Davenport from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. this Friday, November 15.
You will also be able to drop off your donations at the Red Cross office in Galesburg.
Your financial gift to American Red Cross International Services can help victims of countless crises around the world each year, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.
