Davenport Neighborhood Worried After Assaults

Posted: Updated:

A man entered a Davenport apartment where three people live and police say he kidnapped, robbed and sexually abused two of the victims.

Now that man faces charges.

It happened on the 31-hundred block of Heatherton Drive around 11 on Halloween night. Police say 24-year-old Earnest Nunley claimed he was owed $500.

He took all the cell phones from the victims and told them no one was leaving until he got paid. Police say Nunley robbed a male victim by taking him to an ATM to withdraw money and sexually assaulted the other two female victims.

Now neighbors say they are concerned about the crime in that area. Police records show they have responded to that neighborhood more than 100 times in October.

"I don't feel like this is the place where I want my daughter to be playing outside and running around," said Royanna Johnson. "I don't feel comfortable. I don't feel like it's safe."

Nunley has been arrested and faces first degree kidnapping, robbery, and sexual abuse charges.
