Dixon Vocal Teacher Arrested For Sexual Abuse

Posted: Updated:

A vocal instructor for a performing arts school in Dixon, Illinois is being accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

Now police have arrested 31-year-old Robert Campbell. Police say the investigation started Sunday when Dixon school officials received an email from the victim claiming sexual abuse against Campbell.

At the time, the male victim was 16-years-old.

"We have worked closely with the school and are mandated reporters in our community, so when something like this happens, it gets reported right away so we're able to investigate it, find out if something did or didn't happen," said Chief Danny Langloss of the Dixon PD. "If something did, put the person behind bars and protect kids."

The sexual abuse allegedly took place the summer of 2012 at the Viva Performing Arts School on East First Street.

Campbell is being charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Police say the investigation is on-going.
