Nearly 500 college students spent the day outside on Sunday, lending their helping hands to their neighbors and to show they care about the community.
Saint Ambrose University students gathered for "Bee the Difference Day", where they were as busy as their school's mascot, raking leaves and cleaning out gutters for 70 homes around campus.
Volunteers say they just want to be helpful.
"It's a lot of hard yard work and getting up on roofs and cleaning out gutters, and not everyone's going to be able to do that in the amount of time that we're doing it, or even, some people may not even be able to get up and clean their own gutters," one volunteer, Catherine Bettag, explained.
The university's Student Government Association has put on this event every year since 2006.
