Michael McCullough is on a mission to find the family one mystery box belongs to.
"Something that somebody was moving from one home to another, I'm sure and they'd like to have. Hopefully be able to have it back in their possession," he said.
It's a box filled with old family photos, handmade crafts and things that make a house a home. McCullough found it on Saturday, lying in the intersection of Mount Prospect and Roosevelt Ave. in Burlington.
"It's kind of a road hazard for people driving, as well if they tried to swerve and miss something. So, I thought it really needed to get out of the road which is partly what prompted me to stop in the first place," he said.
He immediately took the box and went through it, hoping to find some kind of identification:
"I wasn't able to identify. I don't know anybody from any of the pictures. They weren't people that I recognized."
He thinks names in an old local newspaper article he found in the box could also be a possible clue as to who the box could belong to, but has been unable to track anyone down.
He reached out to police for help, but no luck there either.
"He ran that through his data base to try to find somebody we can contact and we didn't have any luck doing that," he explained.
Now, he's trying to spread the message on Facebook and reaching out to Fox 18 viewers for help.
His search continues hoping to finally return the box to its rightful owner.
