Thousands of veterans seeking health service in the Quad Cities area will now be able to benefit from a newly expanded VA clinic.
Opening in Galesburg, officials say the clinic would service 14-thousand patients. Which is a major increase from when the VA first opened its doors in 2000 when it was only servicing 21-hundred.
Officials say now that the clinic has been expanded to accommodate the patient influ -they can now offer more services as well. Services that some veterans desperately rely on.
"I come here for all my medical," said veteran David Hicks. "I have agent orange right now. It's killing the nerves in my legs and my arms. And I've got one of the best VA doctors I've ever had right here in Galesburg."
Officials say they expect to service up to 5-thousand veterans by next year.
