Scott Community College, Local High School Start College Program
A new program at Davenport North High School will allow students to graduate with a college degree.
North High and Scott Community College are partnering up for the dual graduation program. The program is free for the 40 students selected to take part in it this year and is estimated to save them more than $20-thousand in college costs.
The students in the program will start out taking two college classes this year. Then they'll gradually take more each year.
"It was an option I really liked it because you have to pay for your years to get your associate degree and I was like that's going to be a lot of years and it's going to be expensive," said Marissa Robertson. "So doing this it's free, it's easy and it replaces some of my other classes."
North High and Scott Community College say they plan to continue the program and they're already looking for eighth grade students to participate in it next year.
