Biofuel Program In Iowa May Mean More Ethanol

Posted: Updated:
More drivers could soon be using more ethanol. More drivers could soon be using more ethanol.

A new biofuel pilot program in Iowa could make drivers use more ethanol when they go to the pumps to fill up.

The program, called "Fueling Our Future", aims at expanding a gasoline blend called E-30 that is 30% ethanol. $250,000 will be used to install more pumps.

Right now, many cars on the road can't use E-30. Only cars known as "flex fuel" vehicles can.

But officials say providing more Iowans with this option will help farmers and communities profit.
