Memorial Garden Dedicated for Sherrard Fire Victims
It has been six months since an overnight fire claimed the lives of a mother and four children at a sleep over in Sherrard, Illinois.
On Sunday, neighbors came together for a memorial service and a dedication ceremony for a new prayer garden at the Cable Community Church in rural Sherrard, honoring the victims' memories.
Anna Viager, her daughter, Breana, and three other girls, Cassi Turner, and Holli and Jessica Harker died in the March 27th blaze.
But, this memorial at the Cable Community Church isn't just for people who knew them. The church's pastor says its for anyone who needs a place to reflect and remember what's important in life:
"You can still pray. It's not exclusive to praying for these victims, it's in their memory, and you can pray about whatever is on your heart and whatever is troubling you," Pastor Clint Ziemer explained.
The plaque, benches and flowers all came from community donations.
