The Illinois Department of Employment Security is moving in Rock Island, but some are concerned about services that will be offered at the new location.
IDES will share space with the Rock Island Partners in Job Training and Placement office starting next week.
State officials say four to six employees will be in the office to assist with unemployment filing. The downsize is to push more people to apply for benefits online or by phone but there's concern that needs could fall through the cracks.
"We're in the business of providing service to people so they can get proper service and I just hope this doesn't turn into something where people are afraid to get their claims or don't know how to get their claims," said State Senator Mike Jacobs.
IDES officials say the move is cost-saving since federal funding has been reduced.
