For the first time in this latest round of the Rhythm City casino story, the developer wanting to buy it sat down with the city of Davenport.

CEO Dan Kehl answered many of the city's questions. Sitting all together at a round table, Kehl took questions from each Davenport's Alderman, with questions ranging from location, to jobs, to city incentives.

Kehl says once his casino is up and running, he expects it would earn $89 million a year after five years, 55% more than what the current casino is earning now.

He also said he is working with a co-developer to bring in national restaurants and stores to surround the casino and make it a destination on I-80, the biggest attraction for people between Des Moines and Chicago. But he needs a development agreement with the council first, and he says today's work session is a good start.

"It's nice to get in front of the council and introduce myself and the company and get the ball rolling," said Kehl. "We've got a lot of work to do in a short period of time, so it's good to start doing that tonight."

Kehl hopes to have his land choices under contract by next week, allowing him to have more detailed discussions with the city.
