Concern over coyotes attacking Rock Island homeowners' pets has the city stepping in.
Residents living near the Blackhawk Forest Preserve reported at least two coyote attacks on dogs. Now, animal control is working with wildlife services on trapping coyotes. They're trying to capture a pair who have displayed some aggressive behavior.
Officials say they place traps in the areas by the end of the week.
In the meantime to prevent coming in contact with a coyotes, officials say do not allow pets to roam free. Do not feed pets outside and do not make garbage accessible for any animal to get to.
