President Barack Obama wished Americans a happy Fourth of July.
The Commander-In-Chief addressed the nation, reminding us what this holiday means. He thanked members of the military and urged everyone to live up to the ideals of our country's founders.
"I want to say a special word of thanks to the men and women of our military, who have played such a vital role in the story of our nation," Obama said. "You have defended us at home and abroad. And you have fought on our nation's behalf to make the world a better, safer place."
The first family celebrated the fourth at the White House, along with 1,200 soldiers and military family members.
Fireworks and a performance by the Grammy Award winning band Fun. were part of the festivities.
