Family and coworkers of a Krieger Collision Center employee in Muscatine are mourning his loss tonight.
The storm caused the roof to collapse on him. He was taken to a hospital in Iowa City where he later died.
Several employees were working at the auto shop- and they all managed to make it to cement room except for the victim. They say it seemed like the storm passed over the building as quick as 20 seconds.
The major damage brought Governor Terry Branstad to Muscatine earlier today to survey the damage.
"I think they're in the process of determining whether this was a tornado or whether it was straight line winds but it really doesn't matter," Governor Terry Branstad said. "It was a really destructive storm that came through and obviously when you have a fatality."
The employee killed was a body technician who worked for Krieger for 30 years and expected to retire in December.
