Oklahoma Tornado Recap

Posted: Updated:

At least 51 are dead after a massive tornado struck the Oklahoma City area.

Breathtaking in its ferocity, preliminary reports say the twister registered EF4, which carries winds of up to 200 mph.
This is the damage left behind and what remains of the Plaza Towers Elementary School in the town of Moore.
A journalist from a local television station said he observed locals rushing to pull children from the rubble.

"I've never seen anything like this in my 18 years covering tornadoes here in Oklahoma City," KFOR's Lance West said. "This is without question the most horrific."

More than 38,000 are reported without power. Residents say despite a terrifying experience, emergency crews never stopped keeping locals advised.
