It is part of a larger effort to create traffic in the Hilltop Campus neighborhood of Davenport.

The first annual Altar Crawl, held Sunday, offered community members tours of six churches within the Hilltop area, all from different denominations.

Some of those churches are as old as the Quad Cities themselves.

Sunday, people from all over the QCA had a chance to walk through them - getting a chance to connect with the history of Davenport.

"Congregations, as Davenport got its start, came up the hill to establish churches," Scott Tunnicliff, Hilltop Campus Director, said.

"You had the Methodists and the Presbyterians and the Episcopalians and many others coming in and saying 'This is where we want to build our gathering place,'" he explained.

Organizers were hoping to see a few hundred people stop by the altar crawl today.
