Banks in Savanna, Illinois were the target of hackers.
Residents living in Savanna, Illinois are dealing with a credit card nightmare as every bank in town has become the target of a fraud.
Multiple bank customers have been rushing to their banks to make sure their cards were not hacked. One man found out the hard way that his account had been compromised when he was contacted by the bank about transactions from Ohio, a state he was never in.
The money totaled up to a large amount.
"A little bit over $1,000 but I think. There was in the ballpark of 5 transactions that were hit on our account," Timothy Schoenig said.
Credit union officials say customers with hacked accounts will get their money back.
The Secret Service will continue the investigation.
