Clinton County is asking for a new jail we got a look inside the outdated and aging facility. The building built in 1969 has issues with inmate overcrowding. The design of the facility can sometimes pose safety and security concerns. Jail staff and administration are also out of space. Also, because of old plumbing and inmates being located above offices, staff regularly resort to tarps to protect desks and equipment.

The Justice Coordinating Commission has issued a request for proposals for a jail needs assessment study and the goal is to have a contract with a firm by early August.
