The Drug Enforcement Agency is asking Quad Citians to prevent pill abuse by throwing away any unused medicine.
This Saturday (4/27), residents can get rid of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
According to the D.E.A. the majority of accidental poisonings and overdoses are obtained from family and friends' medicine cabinet and authorities say simply flushing medicine down the toilet or throwing it away poses potential safety and health hazards.
Residents can bring their medicine to the Slumberland Furniture parking lot in Burlington at 3150 Agency Street from 10 a.m. to noon or go to Midwest Bank of Western Illinois in Galesburg at 2558 North Seminary Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
