The Quad Cities biggest transportation project passes a major mile marker.
Replacing the I-74 bridge is now included in Illinois' six-year highway construction program.
"We want to build another bridge in the Quad Cities, connecting Illinois and Iowa again cross the Mississippi River," Governor Pat Quinn said. "It's a major project that involves both Iowa and Illinois, and we're putting our money where our mouth is."
The plan includes roughly $175 million dollars for the I-74 project.
Funding was not included in the state's last plan, prompting the Iowa DOT to look into moving I-74 bridge funding elsewhere.
