Davenport Land-Based Casino Update

Posted: Updated:

Davenport City Council members will meet next week to discuss how they want to follow up on the land-based casino project.

City leaders were asking for a meeting with the Riverboat Development Authority, but the R.D.A. stopped the request before it even came.

The R.D.A. recently started searching for a private developer to build a land-based casino, stopping the city's move to buy Rhythm City.
Today the R.D.A. sent Mayor Bill Gluba a letter declining a meeting.

"I respect the RDA's need to do due diligence to take more time to figure it out. It's a very complicated subject," Gluba said.

The letter says due to a confidentiality agreement with the Isle of Capri, the casino proposals cannot be discussed.
It goes on to say that finding a private developer takes time and as soon as there is a development the city will be notified.
