Moline Seeking Gaming Revenue For Riverside Cemetery

Posted: Updated:

Riverside cemetery in Moline needs repairs and the city plans on using money from video gaming to fix the aging cemetery.

A section of Riverside cemetery is sliding down the hill and to help stabilize the area the city would like to find a better drainage system.
The estimated cost is around $45,000.
To pay for the work, city council voted to use video gaming money.
Proceeds from gambling in bars will be used for cemetery repairs and for other projects in the park department.

"They said, well, this is a good one, we know this needs to take place and we just allocated that money, so lets use that money," Director of Moline parks and recreation, Laura Duran said.

Once council approves an agreement with a contractor, repairs on the cemetery will begin right away.
