Community Supports Princeton Farmer

Posted: Updated:

A Princeton, Iowa cattle farmer is home now after an accident that left him paralyzed.

Last April, Norman Sawyer was out on his 4-wheeler herding cattle when he tried to duck underneath a wire.
Sawyer was pulled off of his 4-wheeler and landed on his neck, breaking it and injuring his spinal cord.

Sawyer endured three major surgeries and spent a year in hospitals and rehab centers. Now, the community is coming together to help out.

"The community decided they want to help with those expenses and we're very grateful to them," Sawyer said.

The community is holding a Road to Recovery benefit to help with the cost of remodeling their home to make it wheelchair accessible.
The benefit is 4 o'clock on April 13th at the Princeton fire station.
