Rock Island police are reinforcing an ordinance that prevents certain people from loitering in the downtown area late at night.
Young adults under 21 are not allowed to loiter or congregate in the Great River Plaza area from midnight to 3AM.
Police said the will take action against violators.
"We anticipate that there will be larger crowds in the downtown and we specifically wanted to reach out to that age group that is affected by the ordinance and remind them that being and loitering on the plaza is prohibited," one police officer said.
The ordinance went into effect on December 31st.
It was adopted because businesses were concerned about large crowds congregating outside the establishments.
