Senator Dick Durbin met with Rock Island Arsenal leaders today to discuss ways to strengthen the Arsenal after sequestration.
"In Washington, they would argue that the sequestration has come and gone and no one even noticed. Well, they ought to come to the Arsenal and they ought to visit with these families. They've noticed," Durbin said.
Durbin went on to say that there will be a reduction in resources available for the Department of Defense due to different events like pulling out of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
He believes the Arsenal's joint manufacturing and technology center can maintain a steady work load through private and public partnerships.
