The pilot of a small plane was not injured when he had to crash land his aircraft in a Davenport field Monday night.
At about 8 o'clock, the Davenport Police Department received a report of a small aircraft going down in a corn field in northwest Davenport. Emergency personnel located the single engine, four-passenger plane, in the middle of a corn field approximately a half mile east of 60th & Fairmount Street.
The pilot, who was the only occupant in the aircraft, stated that as he was approaching the Davenport Municipal Airport to land, the plane experienced mechanical problems and he was forced to put it down in the cornfield.
