ALCOA Eagles Are A Growing Online Sensation

Posted: Updated:

It's all eyes on the ALCOA eagles and their now-hatched two eaglets for this year. The first hatched on Saturday and the second came into the world early Monday morning.

This is the third year we've been watching parents Liberty and Justice in their nest near the ALCOA Davenport Works Facility. The live streaming Eaglecam has become quite the Internet sensation, with more than 12 million visitors from more than 80 countries tuning in throughout 2012 alone.

"When they hatch out like we've seen here in the last couple of days and over the next week or two how quickly they grow and how much they begin to actually look like a bird is one of the most interesting parts for me," said John Riches, ALCOA public relations.

The company is still looking for name ideas for the two eaglets and in a week or two voting will begin. Go to www.facebook.com/alcoa to submit a name suggestion.
