Mexican Company Moving Productions To Dixon

Posted: Updated:

An industrial refrigeration plant is moving from Mexico to Dixon, Illinois and it's bringing 100 jobs.

S.G.S. refrigeration recently acquired a business that makes industrial cooling equipment in Monterrey, Mexico.
However, S.G.S. wants to move production back to the U.S. and picked Dixon. The manufacturer will move into an old factory in the industrial part of town.

S.G.S. leaders said they're moving to Dixon because a few factories have closed in recent years, leaving a skilled workforce that is under employed.

"There's a ready, trained and skilled work force here with talented professional people that can step in and pick up the pace rather quickly," S.G.S. Refrigeration's Peter Spellar said.

The company has to move out of its plant in Mexico by the end of summer. They would like the Dixon factory to be up and running around the same time.
