Iowa Congressman Bruce Braley is finding early support for his bid for the US Senate in 2014, with his colleague and fellow Democrat, Congressman Dave Loebsack, officially giving him his endorsement.
Braley made his first public campaign appearance since announcing a run for retiring Senator Tom Harkin's seat Saturday night, speaking to Scott County Democrats at their annual Red, White, and Blue Dinner.
The four-term House member from Waterloo says he is eager to begin meeting with constituents as he prepares for the election still two years away.
"I'll be traveling all over the state, including here in the Quad Cities listening to voters, hearing what's on their minds, trying to make sure they have a reason to vote for me in November 2014," Rep. Braley, D-Iowa, said.
Republican Iowa Congressmen Steve King and Tom Latham have also been weighing campaigns, but neither has taken formal steps to establish a campaign fundraising committee.
