On the 7th February 2013, Russia will celebrate One Year to Go until the start of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

On the 7th February 2013, Russia will celebrate One Year to Go until the start of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. To mark the occasion, clocks counting down the days to the first ever Russian Olympic Winter Games will be unveiled in the morning in Moscow, St Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Pyatigorsk and Khabarovsk.

In the evening, Sochi will become the heart of the festivities as the city hosts a grand event in the "Bolshoi" Ice Palace where Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, will present invitations to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games a selection of NOCs to symbolically mark the sending of the invitations to the NOCs of the world. Other participants of the event will be Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov, Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission for «Sochi 2014» Jean-Claude Killy, the IOC's Executive Director, Olympic Games, Gilbert Felli and President and CEO of Sochi 2014 Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The official ceremony will be followed by a spectacular ice show, directed by Sochi 2014 Ambassador and well-known figure skater, Ilya Averbukh, and featuring a number of Russia's most loved figure skating stars: Sochi 2014 Ambassadors Irina Slutskaya and Tatiana Navka as well as Roman Kostomarov, Alexej Yagudin, Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin. Altogether there will be more than 300 participants of the show which will tell the story of the preparations for the 2014 Games in Sochi, from the moment the city won the bid in 2007. The evening will conclude with a captivating firework display.
