Moline is taking steps to revive its downtown area starting with several new developments.
The largest one is a hotel that will be built in the Old Deere Collectors center downtown.
Aldermen gave the okay for the city and Moline hotel group to enter into an agreement.
City leaders also approved a development agreement to build student housing at Black Hawk College.
That project includes a 3-stoy building that can house 120 students. The college currently does not offer student housing, so this will help the school attract students.
"Black Hawk College has identified this as a need and it's one more amenity they want to attract different students," Moline Economic Development Manager Patrick Burke said. "They're really looking for room for foreign students and student athletes."
Moline aldermen also approved starting exclusive negotiations with the group that owns the Radisson Hotel.
The project will be fore the multi-modal station in a two phase project that includes housing a rail station, development of retail businesses and a new hotel.
