Iowa women have never had more power at the Statehouse. The 35 women who will serve in the legislature tie the record for the most female legislators, which was set in 2009.
Two woman hold key leadership positions. Democratic Senator Pam Jochum begins work as the first Democratic Senate President. Linda Upmeyer continues her tenure as the first Republican House Majority Leader. Upmeyer is also part of the advisory board of the Ready to Run program to recruit women candidates.
