The city of Dixon, Illinois is running 2.7 million dollars in the black.
That's according to the latest numbers for the fiscal year to date presented to city council tonight.
It is quite the turnaround for the city's financial situation. Former Comptroller Rita Crundwell has admitted to stealing $53 million from city taxpayers over her years on the job.
The auditing firm hired shortly after her arrest last April says it is about 95% finished with its investigation into her final year as comptroller.
In an update to city council tonight the firm said it hopes to have a clear picture of how much money will be coming back to the city by the time Crundwell is sentenced in federal court, February 14th.
