From Civil Union to Marriage

Six months from now, the United States Supreme Court is expected to hand down a ruling that could have a major impact on same-sex marriage, deciding whether bans are unconstitutional and whether voters can overturn what state courts have already made legal.

But before any of that happens, it now appears lawmakers in Springfield will move forward with plans to legalize same-sex marriage in Illinois. According to one local advocate, legalizing gay marriage would be a huge step forward.
