More than 40 families will have to leave the Blackhawk Area Special Education Center in a little more than a year. The Moline School Board voted to pull its support from that center in East Moline to save the district nearly $1 million every year.
But that leaves dozens of families shocked and frustrated that the school board would make that decision. This cut is part of a $3 million deficit that the Moline School District faces, so there are going to be even more losses. One family says the cost of this loss is about more than just money.
