A World War II veteran from Colona was honored today with a very special awards ceremony 60 years overdue.
87 year old Phillip Clong received a total of 13 awards, including several bronze stars and a purple heart.
The ceremony was put on by the Green Rock-Colona American Legion Post 1233, but a formal presentation will take place on Dec. 1st at the Rock Island Arsenal.
