
After an election night that stretched into the early hours of the morning, one of the most hotly contested races in the Quad Cities was over early. After going republican for the first time in 30 years, Illinois' 17th Congressional district made a quick trip back to blue.
The Bustos/Schilling race generated a combined $9 million between the two candidates. Unfortunately, it will not go down as money well spent for Schilling and a number of republicans across the state and country after they took a hard hit at the election.
