Low water levels may be to blame for the Celebration Belle getting stuck in mud in the Mississippi River. East Moline Police and Fire tried to use a tug boat to get the boat moving again, but no luck. The Channel Cat helped to get all passengers to shore.
Perhaps there's a bright side to the low levels on the Mississippi. They just might help volunteers clean it up. Trash and debris piling up along the shoreline are easier to spot in shallow water. That will help the X-Stream Clean-up event on August 11th, when 1,500 volunteers come together at nearly four dozen sites.
