Van Houtte gets New Plea Deal

A former United Township High School teacher and football coach stood before a judge Thursday hoping for a break on the prison sentence he's currently serving.

Jason Van Houtte appeared in court in Rock Island this afternoon in front of Judge Mike Meersman, the same judge who recently caught a sentencing mistake-- which voided Van Houtte's guilty plea from 2010. 

On Thursday he struck a deal - pleading guilty to two charges for having consensual sex with a then 15 year-old student. One of the original charges completely dropped. Prosecutors say they consulted with the victim and she really just wanted all of this over and done with.
