Beyond the Desk: An Easy Way to Save a Life

A friend was recently telling me about his sister's battle with lymphoma and how difficult it is to find a marrow transplant. He told me about "Be the Match", which I had heard of but never looked into it.

The Be the Match Registry is a national marrow donor program listing potential marrow donors. 70 percent of patients do not have a donor in their family and depend on the Be The Match Registry to find a match... and to save their life.

After our conversation, I made it a top priority to take 5 minutes, go to the website and sign up to receive a kit in the mail. Once I got it, it was as simple as swabbing 4 Q-tips in my mouth and sealing them in a pre-paid postage envelop and dropping it in the mail.

Just think if everyone did this. According to the Institute for Justice, at any given time 7,500 Americans are searching for a donor. You could be the match to end their search and save a life.
