Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley's annual Putt-A-Round is kicking off this week. It's the organization's annual fundraiser that asks area businesses to create one of 19 custom built and designed holes for an indoor golf event at the RiverCenter in Davenport.
Today and tomorrow the paying public can sign up with teams, but last night "bigs" and their "littles" got the course to themselves. I stopped by to check it out and let me just start by saying, I had no idea how seriously QC businesses take their mini-golf! Some of these holes were unbelievable! You can tell businesses like Bush Construction, Iowa American Water and Alcoa spent a lot of time and money designing these holes for no other reason than to give kids a truly memorable experience.
I asked some of the guys from Bush if they use the creation for anything else and they said, "Nope, this is it." Their hole looked like a large replica of the game Mousetrap only it had machine parts. I still can't figure out how the ball got from the start to the finish.
Really nice to see the Quad City business community support the important work BBBS does every day.
