On Monday, we aired a story on FOX 18 that for the first time in 13 years, Toys for Tots may not be able to meet the needs of children in the Quad City area.
Donations are down 30 percent. That's a scary figure given that the number of families that have applied for toys is up 20 percent-- or 320 more families-- from this time last year.
I'm thrilled to report our viewers are stepping up today-- arriving one after the other with bags and boxes of toys. Our receptionist says it's been so busy she couldn't even step away to go to the bathroom.
But even though we have the most generous viewers in town, there is still a ways to go to meet the needs of those additional 320 Quad City families. The demand is there. Let's prove that when times get tough we all step up.
There are 600 drop-off locations in the Quad Cities. Click here for the list.
Thanks everyone!
