Beyond the Desk: "Toys for Tots" Proves A Lot

I had the opportunity to shiver alongside U.S. Marines and Quad City Korean War Veterans today during FOX 18's outdoor Toys for Tots Drive. I'm not sure who I was more humbled by, the military members who so bravely serve their country or the Quad Citians who one after another pulled their car over to hand in toys or cash donations.

So far during this year's drive, we've collected more than 1,000 toys for children in need in our community. Can you imagine how many smiles will be created this holiday season thanks to those generous donations? As many families are still struggling through these uncertain economic times-- it's refreshing to see the support of others.

If you would like to donate, we are still accepting unwrapped toys and money donations through Dec. 7. A big THANK YOU goes out to all those who have donated this year. Happy holidays!
